{"id":666,"date":"2009-05-08T07:26:56","date_gmt":"2009-05-08T13:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wapiti-waters.com\/blog\/?p=666"},"modified":"2009-05-08T07:59:57","modified_gmt":"2009-05-08T13:59:57","slug":"fly-shop-owner-dies-in-rafting-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wapiti-waters.com\/blog\/fly-shop-owner-dies-in-rafting-accident\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitterroot River Fly shop owner dies in rafting accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravallirepublic.com\/articles\/2009\/05\/08\/news\/news93.txt\" target=\"_blank\">Fly shop owner dies in rafting accident<br \/>\nby PERRY BACKUS and WILL MOSS &#8211; Ravalli Republic<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The owner of a Hamilton fly shop died in a rafting accident on the Bitterroot River Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Richard \u201cDick\u201d Galli, 72, drowned after the raft he was riding in overturned just south of Hamilton at about 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman said the three men launched their boat from a fishing access site at Anglers Roost.<\/p>\n<p>Just downstream, they apparently hit a brush pile and the boat overturned, Hoffman said. It landed on a tree limb and the men were ejected&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;While the Bitterroot River isn\u2019t running bank full, Hoffman said it has reached the point in the spring when floaters need to be very careful.\u201cIt\u2019s always a fairly tricky river to float, but the danger increases in the spring,\u201d Hoffman said. \u201cWe urge people to use extreme caution and maybe consider waiting to float until the river drops enough so they can see debris.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Click here for the full story at the Ravalli Republic.com &#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravallirepublic.com\/articles\/2009\/05\/08\/news\/news93.txt\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Fly shop owner dies in rafting accident<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dick and Jack were friends.
